Vision boards are a great tool that you can use. They are able to ensure you keep in alignment with your vision. It may also help to make sure you remember and actively pursue your vision. I have found integrating the vision board into my life keeps me on track and aligned with my overall vision. The other bonus about my vision board is it inspires me every morning to continue to take action towards it.

Why a Vision Board?

Over the past few weeks, I have noticed my focus slip away from my vivid vision and onto other tasks. These tasks while most align with my vision. Some don’t leading to me being distracted and less motivated. This is because the Vivid Vision is a long document and I don’t really look at it or read it often. To keep this vision at the front of my thoughts I created a vision board that reflects the thoughts and goals found inside my vivid vision. You can see below my vision board; I will hang this up on my wall to inspire me.

While I created it, I also took a chance to go through my vivid vision and do a quarterly progress check. To do this I highlighted the goals in the vision. Yellow if I had started or made progress and green if I had achieved this goal. I was surprised at the progress I made. Although most of the progress was within the fitness and health category I had made some good strides with working on my mindset too. Click here to see how to write your Vivid Vision.

Creating the Vision board

The vision board was very easy to make and doesn’t take long at all. I made this by going on Canva and finding a template I like and then changing the photos. The most important part is your choice of photos and their meaning. To pick the photos make sure to include photos that not only show your goals but actually have some meaning and symbolism behind them.

For example, Machu Picchu is my dream place to visit. The thought of going excites me. This transfers into being excited to create a life of freedom, where I can follow my dreams and do what excites me whenever I want. Another example of this is using the private jet. For me this symbolises two things the first being time freedom as having a private plane can save a lot of time. The jet also symbolises success. To own and fly in a private jet I would have to achieve a vast wealth and be very successful. The other reason I selected the photos were if I found them visually appealing. This is to make sure I enjoy looking at the vision board. You know you have successfully created a vision board when you look at it and you are excited by it. Every time I look at it I can feel the butterflies in my stomach as I get excited about the possibility of making this board a reality.

Put the Board Where You Can See it

The last step is to make sure the vision is always front of mind. There are many ways of doing this. For me I will hang the vision board up in my bedroom. I believe this is where I will see it the most. I have heard of people putting the board as their screensaver on their phone. This ensures that you see the board every day and puts your vision into your mind, so you can assess whether what you are doing will help achieve your vision.
